Sampled on tap at the brewery. This is a pilot brew that Odell brews for every January. Not a very creative name to this one---just simply "Stout."
Served to me deep dark brown with shades of black and a small 1 cm head that died to just a ring around the glass. The head that survived did lace the glass very well.
Aroma was very faint....and very poor. Some roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla and faint coffee but I really had to search for these.
Nice flavor though. Loads of black licorice, molasses, dry chocolate, coffee and dark fruits. Something about this beer just tasted really good but I couldn't explain it. Nice hop bite on the finish lingered for minutes afterward. This tasted good.
Big filling mouthfeel on this one as well.
This is a good beer but resembles the porter a little too much for them to pursue selling this.
It was an enjoyable experience though.
