i think odell is at their best when they focus on doing simple beer really well. this is sort of between a brown and an amber, a very deep red color to it, but somewhat thin in terms of body. there is a tall white head, almost looks like a nitro dispense, and there is definitely a slight hint of chocolate malt in here, although i would lean towards calling this more of a red than a brown. there is quite a lot of concentrated caramel malt flavors in here, a nice toasted warming property, perfect in the early autumn here, and there is a quick flash of bittering hops in the end to balance the slightly lingering sweetness from the grain. it drinks light for its color, not a ton of body and extremely smooth going down, hearty but easy too, again perfect for the season. there is a biscuity yeast character to it as well that sort of rounds it out, and an undeniable freshness about it thats really flattering. overall an awesome little beer from odell, is this a new fall seasonal or what? on tap at freshcraft is where had it, what a great pint of beer, right on the line between red and brown, and really well made. ill drink more of this here this fall if it comes around in six packs...
