Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served a dark brown color with a tan colored head of one finger height. The head has a great level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a ton of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is strong of a roasted malt aroma mixed with some sweeter aromas of vanilla and caramel. There are some hints of caramel and a little bit of chocolate in there as well producing a dark and lightly sweetened aroma overall.
Taste – The taste begins with a roasted malt taste that has a good deal of sweetness of a vanilla and caramel nature. Along with these tastes are some flavors of a bit of crème and a light chocolate. Toward the end more sweetness of a caramel nature and the tiniest hint of nut and earth hit the tongue to leave one with a sweet and moderately roasty taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is surprisingly on the lighter side with for a porter of 6.8 % with a carbonation level that is lower as well. A little thicker body may have been slightly better, but the lower carbonation was great and produced a feel that was overall nice.
Overall – A rather decent porter/brown overall. A little on the sweeter side, but still lighter and very easy drinking overall.
