excellent new ipa here from odell, and one they should probably consider doing on a larger scale. possibly done for the iowa pub by the same name, but that would seem strange for a colorado brewery right? who knows, the beer is fantastic. mostly clear rich golden to brass in color, great carbonation and foam on the edges of the glass, and an aroma of bursting fresh hops, lemon and grapefruit and pine all there, and a distinct vegetal leafy growing sort of freshness, really attractive aroma! its a little malty too, about what used to be standard in the style a few years back before they turned into oat and unmalted wheat dry hopped bombs across the board, and i like the kiss of crystal malt in here for body and balance. the hops are as good in the flavor as they are in the nose, pine and grapefruit for sure, a hint of melon and even muddled blueberry, a neat bouquet, but not overly juicy or forced, and plenty bitter to finish which i appreciate in this day and age! good carbonation and body, sturdy feeling, oily and autumnal despite the lightly tropical hop complexion, drinkable in its bigness to me for some reason. id love to see this get done on their full size system and released around the state...
