Pours a dark cola brown and settles black in the glass with a creamy tan head that lingers a good long time and leaves a surprising amount of lacing for a 12% ABV beer.
The nose features roasty malts, toffee, and vanilla, but there’s no sign of the barrel, and that is precisely where the taste lands, with some nice flavors but zero barrel.
The mouthfeel is a perfect rich and creamy “big stout” mouthfeel that invites repeated sips. If there was more (as in any) barrel presence, this would approach world class, IMHO.

Dark cola color with just a very thin ring of tan foam at the edges. The nose is deeply chocolate with only a slight hint of whiskey that comes across as vanilla and toasted oak. The taste was not as sweet as I expected with a hit of bitter astringency. There was a flavor of dark Karo syrup and an umami like beef broth(?). It finishes kind of dry and has a bit of a mouth coating clinginess to it. Overall, this was a pretty good beer just a touch short of excellent.

12 fl oz brown glass bottle with pry-off crown cap:
Chocolatey dark malt is at its core, but woodsy and warm whisky follows with notes of vanillin and barrel sugar sweetness. Unfortunately, no rich white oak, toastiness, peat/smoke, or roasted barley flavours are present.
Feels a bit no-frills given the contemporary market for imperial stouts, but it's balanced enough for what it is and it drinks easily despite its boozy warmth. I prefer regular Barreled Treasure (which had better barrel flavour), but this is by no means a bad brew - just not the top tier effort I'd expect from a brewery like Odell, whose past work has spoiled Colorado drinkers to good effect.

Barreled Treasure (Spirit Hound Straight Malt Whisky) pours black with a small white head. The aroma is fresh wood and fresh whiskey grain. The flavor is fresh, single-malt American whiskey, bright grain and a hint of honey. Good feel. Overall, a very American whiskey beer with lots of wood.

Solid example of a classic whiskey barrel aged imperial stout. Decent carbonation, but essentially zero head. Solid malty/roasty flavor, not to sweet, a slight whiskey-flavored finish.

T - Toffee, chocolate malt char, some sweet caramel, oak, and some vanilla. Finishes with a delicate bitterness.

It pours cola colored, but looks pretty dark in the glass. Short head that succumbs quickly to the liquid, scant remnant ring, no cling. I pour on the aggressive side, so a bit of a surprise even for a high ABV (12%) stout in my opinion.
On the nose, not much when cold. When it warmed up, a little cocoa powder, a little prune or raisin, a little roast malt. Still not much there.
The taste strikes me as overly sweet, like amped up molasses or dark brown sugar. Raw whisky is prominent. No bitterness, no bite from hops. Despite the raw spirit taste, not getting much else from the barrel - no oakiness. I do not notice the 12% in particular, but the missus said she thought it was way too hot. There's a faint chocolate, way way way late in the aftertaste there is some licorice-like spiciness. I am confused by my perception of over the top sweetness, and the raw whisky flavor is dominant.
Feel is medium bordering on heavy. Not quite flat, but damned close.
Overall, not a winner for me as it sits. Maybe this would benefit from some aging, but I'm thinking about whether the stout base is strong enough - when the whisky part calms down what's going to be left? This one is a miss for me

A: Pours an opaque yet still clear extremely dark chestnut brown approaching jet black in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and faint dark amber + dark golden yellow + dark cola brown colored highlights. The beer has a finger tall foamy dark tan head that slowly reduces to a large patch of thin film covering approximately 80% of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of charred oak + bourbon + whiskey + vanilla over slightly stronger than moderate aromas of roasted + charred + chocolate + caramel + toasted malts with a light to moderate amount of molasses + burnt sugar sweetness. Hints of earthy hops.
T: Upfront there are slightly stronger than moderate flavors of roasted + charred + chocolate + caramel + toasted malts with a light to moderate amount of molasses + burnt sugar sweetness. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of charred oak + bourbon + whiskey + vanilla. Finally there are light flavors of earthy hops. Slightly stronger than moderate amounts of lingering roasty bitterness as well as some light lingering smokey whiskey.
M: Medium to full bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Moderate amounts of alcohol warming in the finish.
O: Drinks pretty easily considering the strength and relatively well hidden alcohol. Slightly lighter in mouthfeel than I was expecting and is almost a hybrid of a brown ale + stout. Nice roasty bitterness and great flavors + aromas from the barrel aging.

L: Black but thought I could see some dark brown against light. Head was thin.
S: Gentle, soft, picked up some brown sugar
T: Sweet brown sugar and a strong molasses taste kicked in. Boozy with some acrid black roast at the end.
F: Medium body with medium - low carbonation.
O: Very easy to drink and didn't pick up any "flaws". Not super exciting but a solid boozy beer.

From the Extreme Beer Box. A lovely oily, chewy looking pour, big foamy tan head that lingers and leaves a well laced glass. Snot machine like the roasted malt, a whiff of whiskey. Taste buds like the chocolate, coffee, toffee and maybe a bit of licorice. Smooth and creamy, maybe the best from the box.

Pours dark black/brown with a thin wispy tan head. Aroma is boozy, dark fruit and some roasted notes. Taste is also boozy with some vanilla. I think the whisky comes through a bit rough. Feel is good, but again a touch rough. Overall, it's a good experience, but not super high on my list.
