Tasted on 2/28/11 at Odells Brewery. Reviewed from notes:
A: Cloudy red/brown with some head that continues to remain on top the whole time I drink this.
S: Smoke, oak, low levels of funk on the nose. Also smell of hops for the base Scottish Ale.
T: Some tartness funk up front with some prominent oak/smoky qualities. The base beer of 90 shilling has not been overpowered by the other new qualities which makes it even more intriguing and demands more sips.
M: Good carbonation. Pretty thin feel which works for this beer.
D: Enjoyed every sip of this one. Wish they were making this one agian. Nothing mind blowing but Odells makes another very enjoyable and unique beer.

According to the brewery:
This is our classic 90 Shilling with a captain's uniform! We aged our 90 Shilling in a Woodcut No. 4 barrel for six months. This slightly tart ale can take on the most impressive fleet of ships.
Poured a hazy amber color, minimal head. Aromas of sweet malt, wood and vanilla. Medium bodied, drinkable and slightly tart on the palate, with flavors of wood, brown sugar and vanilla, with a sweet candy-like finish.
