pale ale with an experimental hop from the five points location, wish i had more info about the hop because i really dug the beer, and its hard not to be impressed with the beers this small arm of odell is putting out, really impressive menu top to bottom when i was in most recently. apparently these hops are from the university of kentucky, didnt really think of kentucky as a hop place, so this is especially unique. basic beer at its core, pale two row barley seems like the majority of it, pretty close to neutral ale yeast, clear and honey colored, short white head on it from the tap, smells super fresh and quite dynamic on the hop side, thats what this one is all about. layers of cut flowers and nearly ripe melon in the nose, more botanical in the flavor, tea and gin and pollinator garden stuff, lesser culinary herbs and the like, lightly vegetal but not in an overdosed way, subtle golden raspberry and clean citrus, maybe mandarin, to me unique entirely, subtle as it kind of is in here, modest bitterness, lemongrass and green papaya at the end, some oils but not quite weedy dank or anything, light residual grain sweetness through it is not out of place and keeps this balanced, a bit of body, good carbonation, pleasant to drink, highly repeatable. i could see this hop being amazing in a west coast pils type, a kolsch, or even a big clear ipa, lots of personality, eager to learn more about it and taste more beer done with it, never would have thought from kentucky. great pale ale here, another beer from this odell location that could easily scale up to the mothership and be a successful can in their footprint!
