really cool sour here, done with yuzu fruit and hot pepper, and its a chili beer i could actually drink by the pint, despite it having some heat. there are a few things about it that really work in its favor, the first being how simple and clean it is, like the base sour is easy, not too tart, and without sweaty or cheesy notes, lemony and bright on its own. i also like the yuzu, can smell and taste is as such specifically, not lemon or grapefruit, it retains its subtle but distinctive identity, and works well with some natural citrus character in the pepper profile, more than just heat too, seamless and vibrant in both aroma and flavor, but not dosed to the point where its not still beery, i get some pale malt and maybe some wheat in here keeping it firmly rooted in the beer realm. the heat is on the back of the tongue and in the throat a little bit, some linger there but the rest of the beer is refreshing enough to kind of wash it clean, at least in perception, somehow this makes me thirsty and then immediately quenches it in sequence, way cool! fresh and light beer, prickly carbonation, great flavor interplay, the yuzu is brilliant and real, and the sourness is right on, tidy and lactic and enhancing without being limiting in any way. i was so impressed with the beer quality at this location this time, really good stuff going on in here. this is out there but it works, among the better pepper beers ive had in the last little while. intelligent.
