To make this brew Odell Packaging Tech Dave Clapsaddle roasted, smoked and marinated pumpkins at his house to produce 15 gallons of delicious juice, which was added to the boil along with 12 pounds of roasted pecans sprinkled with pumpkin seeds.
Maroon, clear but dark. Half a finger of light tan head.
Brown sugar, toasted rolls, maple, touch of smoke. Not much pumpkin.
Pumpkin is light in the flavor as well, but that's okay because this sweeter brown ale is solid. Sugary in front, with brown sugar, but of maple, pecan. Smokiness and pumpkin settle in on the back end.
A little thin, medium light body. Moderate massaging carbonation, a fair amount of fizz.
Good stuff. Like Dogfish's Punkin, it's a subtle gourd flavor. Good beer flavor, though.
