Beautiful coppery amber in the pint shaker. Very slim head. Just enough spritz on the tongue.
First taste is deliciously yeasty and mellow, with a grainy flavor a a bitter twang. Plenty of scratchy and bitter Belgian flavors. Surprising roast malt flavor adds a lot of interest. A hint of dark figs or some dried frui.
This would be a totally tasty quaff with some better carbonation. On tap at the Monkey Paw brewpub. They described it nicely as a "Belgian session ale."
