Slightly hazy golden amber in the Chimay chalice. A modest foam and pleasant carbonation.
Warm and malty but cut with a big hoppiness. Starts out moderately bitter with a limey, herbal, citrus taste. Flavor like lime peel and a very long bitter aftertaste. Sharp and resiny, but an appealing brew if you think of it as a more friendly IPA instead of anything like a Belgian style. It seems more bitter than any Belgian Pale Ale you might encounter, but that's San Diego for you.
