i really wanted to love this, and expected to after loving another tea beer from three taverns a day or two previously, but this one is poorly refined, a little overly malty, even if the tea profile is nice. that said, its inventive and different and cool, i just wish it drank a little lighter and had less grain interference. four pack of pint cans procured from the brewery. some kind of english ale as a base, pale or mild or something they were going for, brewed with a blend of peach rooibos and black tea. its lightly cloudy, middle amber color much darker than expected when we bought it, and average on the carbonation and the head, but settles down fast, like the bubbles dont stay in suspension well. it smells sweet from both english crystal malt and from the peach aspect of the tea, that red berry rooibos thing and the bitterness of the black tea are there too, some bready old world ale yeast, a copper sort of minerality, a hint of toffee, cardboard too, and finally a general almost green herbal thing, the tea is strong and distinctive to my nose. the flavor has way more of the peach and rooibos than the black, which i dig, it makes this more distinctive than i thought it would be, but it also has a sort of weird almost lousy water cheapness to it, tastes a little tired without really being oxidized, and takes a decent bit of earthy bitterness from the tea, yet remains sugary from the grain the whole way. its a cool idea and a cool mix of ingredients, but it only comes together okay for me, much as i love the effort and the thought. sags a little in the mouthfeel too. fun project and definitely worth a try for the tea lover. i enjoyed the unique tea character in it, but felt the overall beer was lacking a little bit...

I picked this up on a whim seeing it was a collab with Hale Tea co. and something I found interesting - beer and tea...

Well, it started off extremely good - the look was very appealing, the smell was an almost perfect blend of sweet tea and malty beer, but then, things went off the rails a bit. Mouthfeel was truly carbonated, as it warmed it tamped down, but then became astringent. The taste was - weird - nothing like what met your nose, it was just a bitter mess that just didn't work, at least for me. Overall, it's an awesome idea, I think it may need a little more work.
