a delicious and uncommon beverage (see what i did there?). its a kentucky common, but they have swapped out the traditional corn for some rice, a neat touch, and a fun and defining recipe decision. reddish brown in the glass, a slightly lazy ring of off white bubbles, slow and patient looking stuff, and it drinks with a drawn out pace that i find appealing, like this beer immediately relaxes me, makes me present, and i appreciate it. a nose of sort of english grain and yeast to me, like this could almost be a mild or something, some light astringency to it, not quite tidy on the ferment but its flattering, some starch to it, a dry cocoa note, some caramel richness too, dark bread, earthy and interesting, im intrigued. i might pick up trace smoke on my first sip, i can taste and also feel what the rice adds, instead of corn sweetness its a dry earthy character, nice addition to the malts in this, which hit like bread and soil, full of minerals, some sweetness, good body, soft feeling, im curious how much rice is used, seems to have a pretty significant impact on this overall. baking chocolate, raisin, tobacco, but not as heavy to drink as i am making it sound. not sure what the yeast is, but its interesting and cohesive in here, and this has quite a lot of layers and warms up well. relaxed carbonation but its enough, i love the chill pace this has. a really cool beer overall, a style we rarely see, and then the rice addition, its clever and good. had a blast here, they are turning out some cool beers!
