Brown and quite gassy. Malt flavors over power hops with a bitter almost astringent aftertaste. Probably won't buy again

Bottle dated of 11/10/14, hand written with a marker so I'm not sure where it came from or what it means since I bought it at a store.
Pours a golden orange amber color, smallish head with some off-white bubbles remaining on top in patches, not much for lacing.
Smell has a strong caramel malt backing, definitely a touch of the sweet on the nose, mild hop aroma in the background but you need to search for it over the malt sweetness.
Taste has a strong aspect of both the caramel malt and hops, with each trying to fight for dominance, ultimately neither really wins and they both just fade away at the same time, semi-dry finish, soft carbonation lends a decent creaminess and it's not lacking of body, this beer tastes strong in alcohol but since they didn't label an ABV it's hard to tell how well they did or didn't hide the full alcohol presence.
