Collaboration with Green Flash Brewing Company (San Diego, CA)
Style: Juicy IPA w/ Sitka Spruce Tips
Ingredients: Pale and Pilsner malts, wheat, flaked oats, Citra, Simcoe, and loads of Sitka Spruce Tips
This collaboration is Yuuuuge! Believe me. Green Flash Brewing has been one of the founders and driving forces for West Coast IPA the past decade leading to a nationwide appetite for hoppy beer. Combining their knowledge of citrusy American hops and our knowledge of Alaska's favorite foraged beer ingredient, Spruce tips, we've collaborated to bring you Spruce Force. A citrusy, tropical hop wonderland with notes of raspberry sorbet from the Spruce Tips.

On draft at the Anchorage location. Cloudy golden yellow body, unfiltered and hazy, one finger white head. Good juicy citrus and tropical fruit, with a bit of fruity spice presumably from the spruce tips. Light caramel. This drinks more like a NE-style than a west coast-style beer, which is interesting given the collaboration with Green Flash. It works nicely as far as hoppy beers in Anchorage go. Medium mouthfeel, good carbonation, easy to drink, only a mild bitterness mostly from the hops, not the spruce which seems to add more of an earthy fruit character to it. A pleasant surprise from 49th.
