Decanted from a 32 oz crowler in to a conical pint glass; canning code 2019198, which I interpret as the 198th day of 2019 or 07/17/2019. Brought back from Anchorage by my daughter (thanks, Á).
A: Pours a hazy, golden color (think aged brass) with a less than one finger, frothy, white head, rim retention and limited, spotty lacing.
S: Aromas of grapefruit (or at least generic citrus), pine, and caramel. Nose reminiscent of an APA.
T: Dry. Palate less flavorful than the nose would imply, consistent with the Blonde Ale style, although light elements of it are all there. Peppery bitterness seems a bit strong for the style. Flavorwise, actually reminiscent of Founder's Solid Gold, which is, of course, a lager.
M: Light to medium bodied. Very clean finish.
O: 49th State is a very popular Anchorage brewery, not far from the train station. Full disclosure, I am so much more a "big flavor" beer guy, that I sometimes feel a need to be fair to beers from these more subtle styles. AK Cruiser is drinkable and enjoyable, great for warmer weather, which this year has been in greater supply in Alaska. 'Tsall good.
