Named for the mysterious noise that eerily echoes through Anchorage on cold winter nights, this barleywine was aged in freshly dumped bourbon barrels to create a haunting, whiskey-forward rhapsody of molasses, oak, vanilla, dark fruit, toffee, and caramel. This release is a big boy, clocking in at 16.4% ABV.

This is the 2025 "Apocalyptic " brandy barrel version. Colour is a dark garnet hued brown with no head at all. Nose is fairly raisiny and date like with prunes as well. Palate....is huge, full, massive and pretty dang sweet ! There's a bit of leather on the mid palate as well as a tightly wound cassis flavour and ten a very long and very boozy finish. Nicely done!

In the Top 5 Best Beers I've ever had. Ever. Incredible!
(I've had most of the top 250 beers for reference.)

Sweet, but not too sweet. Smooth. Creamy in a sense. The pinnacle of Barley-wines IMO.

Huge barleywine that leaned towards raisin/fig rather than the caramel/toffee. Lots of sweetness without being sickly. The abv shows up in the extremely long finish. Super enjoyable.

A true-to-form, no-bullshit Barleywine. Rich, sweet notes of dark fruit, raisin, caramel, brown sugar, and vanilla. Finishes dangerously smooth, with no residual bitterness and an alarmingly soft warmth on the finish. This was fantastic.
