pretty much every time i have beers from these guys i come away impressed. this is really solid, hoppier than many but not real bitter, fresh and flavorful, and most importantly the ferment is awesome, pretty light on the yeast taste really, subtle for what it is, but so clean, tight, drying, and vibrant, definitely professional execution on the most important part of this, and it ends up refreshing as can be as a result, really well designed and executed modern lager. not quite perfectly clear and its a shade deeper in color than a lot of these, but it doesnt drink malty per se and looks refined enough for me under its tall white head. the nose and taste on this have some lime character from the hops, middle of the road bitterness for the style, but resplendent freshness that really makes it stand out, seem bold and new, and its got some nuance, lemongrass and green melon, perhaps more than noble varietals at play here, almost a new zealand wrinkle, but chill. the grain isnt sweet but its not totally minimal either, crackery yes, but also slightly baked to me, not warm or toasted but taking a step in that direction for sure. good water chemistry, the hops are bold but also somehow lighten this and make it springy and modern, id love to know more about the recipe. food versatile too, which is great because their have a real diverse menu here at their anchorage location. really enjoyable offering, there is an optimistic vibe to it that puts me in a good mood. i was especially impressed with their beers on our most recent visit!
