Nice dark brown color. Not much of a head but excellent retention; a sticky brown/white lace throughout. Malty sweet aroma as well as fruity esters; I'm detecting strawberry in particular. Very sweet taste; fruity, cocoa with a slight bitter finish to balance it out. Chewy and viscous, a nice winter drink. Warms you up nicely! I wouldn't usually drink this, but it seems like a great winter holiday seasonal drink.

First had: on tap at the brewery
Deep brown pour, with a wispy tan head that sank to a ringlet, leaving a bit of lacing on the glass. Aroma of bready malts, mild roast, tree bark, some herbal bitterness. On the palate, predominantly toasty malts up front, pumpernickel, resinous juniper, orange pith and dried peel, ushering in a pretty rigid bitterness and a dry finish. They said there were cranberries in the brew as well, but I detected none. Medium body. Not necessarily a bad beer, but I didn't care much for it.
