Canning date obstructed. “ Uhhhhh…what’s up doc?” stamped on the bottom of the can

This is only my second beer from Burly Oak, after trying the Pineapple Horchata Shortcake variant of this a few months ago. That one was pretty damn good so I figured I’d take a chance on this “Dessert Sour” when I saw it on Tavour. Let’s crack it open and see what it’s all about

Pours an opaque radiant orange with 3 fingers of light orange head that quickly fades to a thin ring and leaves no lacing. Despite the lack of lacing and head retention, it’s a very unique color which I enjoy

The nose is definitely sweet, but there’s a nice tartness to it as well. I’m picking up on aromas of brown sugar, carrot juice, lemon juice, vanilla, pumpkin meat, nutmeg, praline pecans, and light cinnamon

While a bit sweeter in taste, there’s still a nice bite of tartness that cuts through. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting carrot juice, brown sugar, vanilla, graham cracker, orange juice, brown sugar, pecan, light cinnamon, and nutmeg. The swallow brings notes of carrot juice, lemon zest, orange juice, earthy cinnamon, brown sugar, baked pumpkin, nutmeg, and light vanilla

A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a creamy beer. Finishes slightly sticky but the tartness helps dry it out

This is great all around. Many breweries would get this wrong by making it much sweeter and thicker, but this one actually feels cohesive. I need more Burly Oak in my life

6 oz draft pour at Lures Bar & Grille. Looks like carrot juice - opaque/hazy bright orange with very little head. IMO not really appealing for a beer, but not surprising given the "beer" style. Aroma and flavor offer tart carrot cake with cream cheese. Again, not very beer-like, but tasty enough. Glad to hear tried it but not something I'm likely to order again.

i'm not completely warmed up on this style (though i know it's all the rage with the youngsters)... but this was actually quite pleasant!

Popped open the can, poured a thick opaque ruddy orange into the 12 oz tulip, zero head of course. Nose was surely of carrots, oranges, a little whiff of funk from the lactose. Taste was sweet & carrot-y, a tinge of orange and kitchen spices... fait acompli! Feel/swallow was rich, juicy and non-threatening. Practically like a smoothie. I'd have crushed another can if i'd had more than just this one handy!
