Slightly tart ale brewed with a touch of wheat and our house strain of Lactobacillus. A blend of banana, pineapple and coconut jam out with jelly goodness.

Jelly Not Jam - Banana Pineapple Coconut
Burley Oak Brewing
Fruited Sour
ABV: 4.4%

Time to review another beer, finally. I have never consumed a beer from this brewery, and I am excited to try something new. A crisp 42 degrees and served in a pint glass. A frothy and airy bright white head was created from the pour. The retention is okay for this style. No lacing was left on the glass after the dissipation. A hazy straw yellow with hues of gold, charting around SRM 4. Bits of fruit are visible on the sides of the glass. Overall the appearance is also average.
The dominant aromas are pineapple, coconut, and fruity sourness. Nosing the glass further, I detect banana, lightly toasted malts, and a slight funkiness.
I was expecting this sugar bomb with fruity notes like other fruit sours. I was surprised to get lovely banana and coconut flavors with pineapple mingling like best friends. Usually, the pineapple is assertive, and the additional fruit flavors compete for the palate. The sourness is pleasant, not aggressive, and refreshing on a hot summer day. Additional flavors in the beer are lightly toasted malts, lemons, and a slight fruity sweetness.
The body is light with low carbonation. The mouthfeel is dry and crisp. The beer finishes quickly with a touch of puckering.
This beer is refreshing and hits the perfect notes on a hot day. I would have liked to have a touch more sourness, but I am nitpicking.
