Draft pint at Beer Revolution in Calgary.
Dark brownish-red, almost but not quite black, foamy tan head. Sticky chunks of lace, foam slowly fades.
It smells of cold coffee to start, slight aroma of leafy and pine hops.
The taste has a good malt base, caramel, coffee, even a touch of smoke I think. Finishes with a bit of earthy or leafy hoppiness.
The body and mouth feel is medium, smooth and not overly carbonated.
Lots of coffee overall, a touch on the thin side, but still pretty good.

16oz pint at Beer Revolution, a sort of palate cleanser amongst all these so-called sour offerings.
This beer appears a clear, dark red-tinted brownish amber colour, with one fat finger of puffy, loosely foamy, and weakly bubbly tan head, which leaves some sparse rocky promontory lace around the glass as it quickly abates.
It smells of thin cold coffee, gritty crackery caramel malt, and tame leafy, weedy, and faintly piney hops. The taste is bready caramel malt, indistinct light orchard fruit, musty yeast, more ethereal lactic and associated bland coffee notes, and tell-tale tame earthy hops.
The bubbles are plain and frothy, nothing more than that, the body a so-so middleweight, and fairly smooth, the overall metrics of this particular brew skewed just so. It finishes off-dry, the bland caramel, weird yeastiness, and phantasmic java notes presiding.
Sigh, this just seems like their chocolate porter, without the chocolate, and a malt profile that promotes everything coffee, but to a sorely underwhelming degree. Not really worth seeking out, I'm sorry to say.

Phillip's Brewing 'Coffin Kicker Porter' @ 5.0% , served on tap @ Garrick's Head & Yates St. Taphouse and a growler fill for free
A-pour is black from the tap/growler to glass with a small beige/tan head leaving a spotty lacing along the pint
S-nice almost dry smelling porter
T-crisp & clean , chocolate , a little smoke with no bitterness on the swallow
MF-ok/good carbonation , big medium body
Ov-ok beer , more dry and not as rich tasting as Longboat
