Turns out after cleaning the cellar that a bottle of this beer showed up and boy is it nice. Dark mahogany colour with a light head this beer smelled like old hops and dried pears. The beer was aged to perfection with notes of leather bound books and English brewhouses. This is a beer that sadly is no more but hopefully Matt Phillips will brew it again with the newfound success he is having.

Copper clear body with a short-lasting off-white head. Aroma is moderately alcoholic (serious rhum aspects), but also got interesting peat aspects, scotch ale caramelic. Palate also has those characteristics to which are added vinous grapes and butterscotch (and very buttery one at that). Were the carbonation a little lower, this would seem like a typical english barley wine, although a little astringent and thin-bodied.
