I agree with Biboergosum, this beer disappointed me. I rad the label, I know Phillips intimately. But .... Sad Face! I taste citrus and and malty bready yeasty Brett,. Well, sort of ! I get the taste and the lovely citrus lemon aromas. but they advertised the FUNK, and that is what I'm missing. Sorry Phillips, love your beer but this one didn't come as advertised.

650ml bottle - an apparently citrusy IPA, with our ol' pal Brett dropping by like an unwelcome houseguest (except not, if you're a brewer these days).
This beer pours a clear, bright medium golden yellow colour, with three zaftig fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and somewhat bubbly off-white head, which leaves a bit of scattered chunky lace around the glass as it slowly and lazily disperses.
It smells of gritty and grainy pale malt, a touch of caramel sweetness, muddled generic funk, equally indistinct domestic citrus rind, and very tame earthy, leafy, and weedy green hop bitters. The taste is grainy and crackery pale malt, some biscuity caramel, a hard water flintiness, still thankfully muted musty gym sock notes (hey there, Brett!), hard to really notice orange and white grapefruit citrus peel, and more understated leafy, weedy, and gently perfumed floral verdant hoppiness.
The carbonation is quite active in its palate-clinging frothiness, the body a so-so middleweight, and not particularly smooth, as both hop and funk trip about a bit too clumsily here. It finishes trending dry, the malt bleeding out, while the kids keep up their youthful vigor.
Overall - yeah, this one is going to appeal to neither the hopheads nor the funk fans of the world, as everything feels just so, well, dialed-back, for such a big brew. Props for keeping the alcohol heat to a bare minimum, which adds to the drinkability factor, but, in the end, this one is, as my pre-schooler is fond of saying, boooorring!
