Out of Fucus is pale amber with lemon highlights and a slight, lemony haze. Head is bone white and has some retention to it.

On the nose, Out of Fucus is funky and earthy. Salinity marries nicely with Out of Focus's earthiness. Gentle sourness takes a back seat to the aromas of earth and funk, which seems a smart choice. What tartness there is, reminds me more of tart green apples, which seems to pair nicely with the aroma's overall earthiness.

Taking a sip reveals a smooth, medium bodied beer with an overall balance of character. As with the nose, earth, funk, and general salinity lead the charge, offering themselves up as a foundation for other flavors. Tartness comes through next, pairing nicely with what reminds me of tart green apples. Unlike the nose however, the flavor gives me some lemon character in addition to that of apple. The finish is dry, and gently peppery in nature.

It's delicate, tart, and refreshing as I think a beer of this style ought to be. But it also has great flavor, balance, and character showing us what a gose could be in the right hands.

Appearance - Pours a cloudy apricot with three fingers of frothy white head.

Smell - sea salt, funk, lemon peel, citrus, spicy earthy, leafy, and floral hops, biscuity wheat malts, and earthy yeast.

Taste - sea salt upfront followed by the funk, lemon peel, and citrus. The spicy earthy, leafy, and floral hops come through next followed by the biscuity wheat malts and earthy yeast.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate to high carbonation. Finishes with a pleasant tartness from the sea salt.

Overall - A highly enjoyable Gose that utilizes the rock weed to its full potential. You definitely get a natural sea salt taste and every other element in this brew just works in unison. A highly sessionable brew!
