Centennial hops debuted in 1974 as a cross between many different strains including Brewers Gold, Fuggle, East Kent Golding, and Bavarian hops. The name comes from the Washington State Centennial Celebration, which occurred in 1989.

These hops are fantastic for both bittering and aroma and are similar to the Cascade hop with its pine, citrus, and floral notes. Being one of Matt’s favourite hops, it featured prominently in our first ever IPA. With that history in mind, we thought it’d be a perfect fit for our anniversary celebrations, especially since it’s named after an anniversary itself!

My third in the single hop series - left for last as love Centennial - hopes of Founders Centennial or Bells Two Hearted...
Great start pours a deep copper to amber colour - almost clear with massive orange tinged off white head that leaves an amazing whipped cream cap on the beer.
Aroma is piney and strongly citrus - grapefruit, burnt orange with notes of grainy caramel malt in back.
Taste starts with the slightly sweet grainy caramel malt with notes of grapefruit, pine, resin, but on swallow bitter earthy hops take over and build to a slightly oppressive level - begging for some balancing sweetness. Seemed less intense as the beer warmed.
Medium full mouthfeel with an intense piney, grapefruit peel with earthy hop bitterness lingering. Really enjoyed the first two - perhaps hurt by high expectations for this one. Hope it integrates into the 3 hop finale beer.

Poured from a 473ml can from a Anniversary 4 pack. Good to April 16/2021.
3rd out of the 4 for me, another solid single hop IPA.
A nice pour with a dank nose the taste is what you would expect nice and bitter but a clean finish.
