Bomber from Rutager. Thanks for the always awesome trade man!
From a bomber into a snifter
APPEARANCE: Pours dark brown and yields a smaller, looser looking tan head with lousy retention. Head fades to a splotchy wisp and ring. Clear black body with medium levels of carbonation evident. A ring remains and leaves some minimal dots of lacing down the glass.
SMELL: Roasted malts, lactose sugars, sweet cream and light caramel notes. Nice, but a little mute.
TASTE: Follows the nose with light roasted notes, milk sugars and sweet cream flavors up front. Finish is mild yet lingering flavors of lactose sugar and caramel sweetness competing with the bitter chocolate and roasted notes. A little watery through the middle, unfortunately, but alright after the swallow. Better than the nose.
PALATE: Slightly thinner body and higher levels of carbonation. A little airy on the palate, goes down fine and finishes dry on the palate. A little weak here.
OVERALL: This is okay for a regular milk stout, but there are some better ones out there. Somehow I think this would be much better fresh, straight from the source. Still, a good beer that I enjoyed while watching the Premiere League at my parent's house. Thanks again Rutager!

Appearance. Pours a dark chestnut brown, pretty much black in the glass with almost two fingers of light tan head that fades fairly fast.
Smell. Roasty and grainy dark malts, black coffee and sweet bakers chocolate with a slight lactic/metalic sourness.
Taste. Creamy black coffee, some sweet chocolate and roasty malts, and a very light lactic sourness and a hint of maple.
Mouthfeel. Medium, slick body with medium+ carbonation.
Overall. A very nice milk stout. I enjoyed it much more than the Left Hand milk stout I had recently.

Phillip's Brewing 'Leviathon Milk Stout' @ 5.5% , served from a 650 ml bottle purchased for $6
A-pour is deep dark brown with a tan/off white head that is dissapating as make I notes , leaving a lace ring along the pint glass
S-sweet and sugary , some fresh coffee grounds in the back ,
T-sweet tasting , smooth chocolate malt crispness to it
MF-a mild medium carbonation , medium to full body , smooth on the palate
Ov-good beer , for a good cause
this beer was released on Jan21/13 from Phillip's alongside Twisted Oak Scotch Ale
