Lots of hazelnut in the nose, too sweet for me to enjoy it more.

Poured a black body with minimal tan head and lace and has a chocolatey, nutty aroma with hints of coffee in aroma as well.
Smooth, medium bodied, slightly chewey, I think the chocolate and hazelnut sweetness is evenly balanced with some coffee malt (more of just roasted than coffee but you could call it either).
I found this beer to have great balance and a simple yet very pleasing taste profile as it finishes nice and dry.

Grabbed this and the first thing I noticed was the great nose on it! Chocolatey in the best way I can imagine for a stout. It's not obvious, but I am sure the hazelnut is balancing the "beer chocolate" notes so well that they seem more "real chocolate". The appearance is missing sustaining head and lacing, but is dark brown toward black. A little agitation dies revive the carbonation fleetingly.
The taste, unsurprisingly, can not live up to the nose. This is definitely a "let it come to temp" beer. The beer at temp yields chocolate notes initially, fading to coffee-tinged mocha. The lovely scent still plays into the enjoyment of the initial tastes. The mid to late tastes are what drop the beer a bit. Granted the beers isn't an imperial, so the body and depth can be expected to be lighter, but what I perceived as drying came on quick, but brought with it a nutty oily taste that maybe is the hazelnut shining through. The body is medium light to me, somewhat accordingly.
I hesitate to be too critical of a non-imperial stout, but unfortunately that style is out there skewing my sensibilities. I think the flavors and especially the nose stand up against the detractions of this beer quite well. Definitely worth at least a try by everyone to judge for themselves.

Tried this for the first time last week and was really impressed. Definitely a bit on the sweet side but nutty and smooth. Might not ever rival the Gingerbread Stout that they are so well known for, but a nice alternative when the GBS isn't available (which is almost always).
