Knob Creek Barrel Aged Barleywine

This one pours a fairly dark black color, almost stout-like in apperance, with a small head, and not much lacing.

This one smells like dark fruit, cocoa powder, tobacco, bourbon, and oak.

This feels like kind of a cross between a Belgian dark ale and a stout - moreso than a barleywine. There's not much caramel/toffee type barleywine maltiness, but the drippy and boozy dark fruit flavors are really nice. There's also chocolate and roast, and some nice slick bourbon sweetness. There's a touch of oak, too.

This is lightly carbonated, but not super boozy. It's definitely a slow sipper.

I wish this was a bit more barleywine-like, but I still like it a lot.
