Pours deep black with a rich dark brown head that quickly fades away. Smell is brandy, chocolate, hint of spices. Not one of the more scent filled versions of GBS. Taste is apple brandy, ginger, hints of chocolate, roasted malts, cinnamon, and booze. The apple brandy definately dominates the flavor and almost overpowers the others but they do show up after a bit of warmth. Overall this is nice, it's not my favorite rendition of GBS, but I could enjoy it again. The ABV is high enough that the stout certainly has a boozy kick to it, not something I mind but wanted to mention for those that do.

L: Had this beer on-tap at Hardywood Park - Richmond, poured into a snifter glass. Had a coal black color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a thin, tan-colored, foamy head that quickly dissipated. Not much lacing to speak of.

S: A big and enticing aroma of apples, booze, chocolate, malt, ginger, and spices.

T: Tasted of some malt (present throughout, though subtle), a hint of vanilla (fleeting), a lot of the advertised apple brandy (a big factor), a ton of chocolate (always a good thing), a good shot of ginger, and some cinnamon as well. This is a big, aggressive, and complex flavor. Extremely tasty.

F: An average amount of carbonation with a smooth, warm finish. Full-bodied.

O: An incredibly enjoyable stout. Drinkable.
