Rich, decadent, and irresistibly smooth. This Imperial Porter delivers notes of rich dark chocolate and creamy peanut butter in every sip.

Pours opaque dark brown with a smallish tan head with good retention and lacing. Aroma is cocoa and peanut butter. Flavor follows the nose, sweet but not cloying, Feel is medium bodied with fairly low carbonation. Overall, this is a delicious beer with well-hidden ABV.

Dark brown to black in color with minimal light penetration. There’s a fingernail of brown around the rim and covering two thirds of the top. The aroma is packed with peanut butter and some dark chocolate. I’m tasting peanut butter and dark chocolate. The mouth is oily and dry, as anticipated with the ingredients.

I don’t like sweet nor fruity beers but this has such a nice dark chocolate flavor and luxurious mouth feel. It’s definitely my favorite flavored beer now and one of my top darks

Poured from a 16 ounce can dated 1-9-26 into a snifter at 54.7 degrees F.

Appearance- Black, opaque, medium brown creamy head, above average head retention and lacing.

Aroma- Cacao, roasted peanuts, high strength of scent.

Flavor- Roasted malt, cacao, peanut at finish, highly sweet, medium strength of flavor.

Mouthfeel- Medium body, average carbonation, highly sweet, moderately bitter, mildly mouth warming, moderately creamy, silky, mildly mouth coating, mildly dry finish.

Overall- Black and opaque with above average head retention and lacing. The bouquet was a great mix of dark chocolate and roasted peanuts with high strength. The flavor was more general roasted malt character with some dark chocolate notes and peanut at the finish. The mouthfeel consisted of medium body with moderate creaminess, moderate bitterness and high sweetness. Overall, this beer delivered on the chocolate and peanut butter character as promised, but the aromatics were much better than the flavor. The appearance was excellent and the mouthfeel was teetering between a 4.25 and 4.5 rating, but the lack of mouth coating property and lower end of medium body lead me to 4.25. This beer provided a very enjoyable drinking experience, but barrel aging would really take this one to the next level.

Definitely delivers on the name - strong dark chocolate and peanut butter. It’s like a dark chocolate Reese’s cup in a can. It is not subtle about the flavors at all though, so if you are looking for a porter with a little bit of that flavor, it could be overwhelming. This one is a dessert beer with strong sweet flavor, which makes it tough to handle a 16 oz can.
It’s not one that I would have regularly because it is pretty atypical, but when in the mood for it, it would be great. It might be one to share though since it is a strong flavor for a full 16oz.

Deep brown with sandy colored foam. Two fingers of head with some good cling.
As advertised smells and tastes of peanuts and chocolate. Baker's chocolate bitterness in the finish nails it.
Slightly heavy mouthfeel but expected based on the ABV.
If a beer can be fun this one is.

This appears to be another Hardywood/Trader Joe's exclusive as was their recent seasonal Peppermint Bark Stout.
Loads of peanut butter in the nose, and that follows straight into the flavor. The lactose brings a creamy element that blends well with the peanut butter, and the 9.2% is completely buried in this rich concoction. This is a decadent dessert beer worthy of trying.

Powerful head (much more than I am used to as I am a guy who takes the bus and walks about 1,000 feet from the store to the bus stop, jostling the beer all the way). I enjoyed the delightful chocolate and peanut butter flavors and aromas, and the beer seemed a bit creamier than most other beers.

Despite BA's high ratings, I am wondering if this might be a one-and-done as I found no reference on Hardywood's website.

Pours a dark, opaque brown, with only a glimmer of ochre around the limb when held up to the light. Foam is modest and tan, fading to a narrow ring in minutes. Smell is very much as advertised, a dark chocolate peanut butter cup. Flavor starts with a heavy dose of malt, followed by chocolate milk and a bit of coffee. The peanut flavor doesn't come on strong until later, but chocolate and peanut butter carry through to the end. Body is porter-like, heavy side of medium, but the mouthfeel is surprisingly silky, or maybe milky. Hard pressed to find 9.2% ABV in the taste or feel. Overall, this beer really delivers on its name. The smell is a real treat. The beer part of the flavor is very much present, with the chocolate and peanut butter complementing as adjectives should. That said, the novelty does wear off at the bottom of the pint.

16oz can. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, light brown head of foam. It left thin rings of lace on the glass. It smelled of rich chocolate, peanut butter and caramel. This is good but by the end it was just too sweet.

16 oz can, indecipherable canning date stamp

Opaque dark brown color, one finger variegated tan head, full curtain lacing and stubborn surface cap.
Strong peanut, cookie dough and chocolate aromas
Peanut, vanilla, chocolate, light coffee flavors
Sweet going across the tongue, medium bodied appropriate for a porter, finish is more dry.
Good carbonation, no alcohol heat, works on all levels.

Poured from a 16 oz can bought at Trader Joe's. A nice looking porter with a huge tan head the consistency of a milkshake. Some roast grain, but mostly strong peanut aromas. Peanut butter and chocolate milk flavors are nice, but they drown out any customary porter character. Mouthfeel is overly thick, but it seems to match the massive flavors. This is a fun beer, full of flavors, but it gets a bit cloying for me by the end of the pint.
