This inky Imperial Stout pours black into the glass with a brown head. Aroma of roasted grain with a slight hint of licorice. Full bodied with plenty of dark chocolate flavor leads into a long, smooth finish.

This is one of those "under-the-radar" imperial stouts that I just love. Jet black, dark tan head, dark chocolate and stone fruit aromas, just a fantastic precursor to the main event .....
The taste. There's dark chocolate, there's stone fruit ..... and there's molasses. That's the addition I love. Just a smidge of spice to really take this to another level, IMHO.

Appearance: Pours with a Vesuvius of a bubble show, with the tannish head settling in at four fingers; great stickage and lacing action
Smell: Chocolate, caramel and roast, with a black bread element
Taste: Chocolate and caramel forward, with a hint of malted milk balls developing; roast, black bread and earthy bitter tones build, after the swallow, with just a hint of underlying sweetness in the finish
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with moderate carbonation
Overall: A little sweeter than I would like (I think that sweetness in beer must be a Texas thing) but still quite good
