Pours a nice, dark amber color with a foggy, thick head. The aroma is of brown sugar and molasses. Not at all an aroma of hops as one would anticipate. The feel is really thick with medium carbonation. The palate is more brown sugar, dark fruits and pepper.

I could rate this up if it weren't an IPA! It is more of a strong ale than an IPA.

Poured from a bomber into a tulip glass. Deep golden orange color with a thick head and nice lacing. Strong somewhat boozy smell, sweet and a bit citrusy. All this goes over to the taste along with vanilla and pine. Good beer!

Smell is dull, not like a typical IPA. Poors dark and has a heavy head. Taste is heavy and flat, no hops come though what so ever. For a imperial IPA this is a fail. I could not even fish the whole thing. Very disappointed.

Look - pours dark. Reminiscent of Rodeo Clown but hazy. Head was terrible, too high and lingered so long that it screwed up the pour. Might have been my glass or bottle... but it's my rating

Smell - malt forward on the smell. This is not a traditional ipa. Once again, think Rodeo Clown instead of hopadillo or hop delusion. Reminds me of Hog Heaven by Avery... which is a barley wine

Taste - great taste, if it were a barleywine. Overpowering malt and sweetness, hops are present but in the background. Some earth and citrus notes. Great caramel and hints of molasses and some dark brown sugar. If this had been labeled an American Barleywine it would be a 4.75 on taste.

Feel - thick on the tongue and leaves a resinous coating on the back of the throat. Expected from a "quintuple" ipa and actually very pleasant. Little bit hot, also expected.

Overall - glad I tried it, but go into it thinking barleywine. It's not a very good example of a high abv, fg ipa. Here's to a bright future Karbach... even if Inbev is involved.
