Small, fizzy head, quickly dissipating to absolute nothing. Brew itself is a deep and inviting black, not unlike cola.
Initial impressions of the nose were banana, roast, and red grapes, but as it warms, the mint, vanilla, and cocoa start to emerge, although quite restrained.
Quite lively on the palate, with moderate sting. I expected more heft for an 8.5% ABV stout, but in terms of body, this comes across fairly thin, not unlike a brown ale. No heat, so drinkability is quite nice.
The mint adds a brightness to the brew, the vanilla a smoothness, and the cocoa a dark, bitter, powdery note. Plenty of toffee and caramel along with some coffee from the malt base. Coconut is perhaps detectable if you really strain for it, but I wouldn't have guessed it if I didn't know. Some banana (likely from the yeast).
This seems like a very ambitious brew, with a complex malt bill and big list of adjuncts. I don't think it really comes together the way they envisioned. It's pleasant enough,
