The lady at the brewery who sold me this beer recommended I pop the top and let it rest for a minute or two before pouring; it still took a very slow pour to keep the head below three fat fingers of frothy, rocky off white fuzz.
The head dies down to a ring quickly with minimal lacing.
Hazy translucent yellow-orange in color that appears yellow in front of light, slightly murky.
Pineapple dominates the smell with some sour funk.
The taste begins sweet from the pineapple with an artificial tart flavor like sour candies in the middle. The finish of the taste is washed away by the over abundance of CO2.
Moutfeel resembles sparkling wine (not champagne) and is just to fizzy.
The story is that a batch of Fanny, a solid AIPA, went sour during a power outage so they added pineapple to save it as a sour beer. If this beer was brewed again without all the CO2 it could be worth while, as mentioned the CO2 swept away a lot of the taste and left the mouthfeel fizzy yet thin. I get almost zero malt taste and very little hops.
Disapointed as I have tried Fanny and others from this brewery and enjoyed them.

Poured from a tallboy:
A: Big lumpy head that dies down real quick. Spotty, junky lacing from initial head; absolutely nothing after that. Super hazy burnt-orange. Looks like unpasteurized apple cider.
S: PINEAPPLE. Band aids. Maybe some grapefruit.
T: Damn! This is a unique mishap. Starts real sweet, moves quickly to tart, and ends with a really mild bitterness that doesn't accumulate. The pineapple is huge but not necessarily overpowering. It kinda threatens to knock out the floral and bitter aspects but never fully does so. The lingering bitter/tart is mild and kinda grapefruity.
M: Surprisingly creamy.
O: I kept wanting to compare this to Stillwater Moneytrees (a dry-hopped gose; the storm sour fanny is technically a kettle soured session IPA) but it's too sweet and fruity to do so. This is still a balanced beer but if it was just a couple notches drier, it might be my favorite beer so far this year. The sweetness from the pineapple tones down the flavors I find most interesting and want more of. Apparently 600+ lbs of pineapple were added to a ≈50 barrel tank of accidentally soured Fanny during a power outage to counterbalance a perceived mishap -- I would love an intentional re-brew with maybe a little less pineapple/sweetness so the other flavors can express themselves a lil bit more.
OVA I wish this was significantly drier (especially after a couple) but it's still real interesting, fun, unique and worthwhile.
