Got this one from hopsolutely this summer
From a 750 into a snifter
APPEARANCE: This one was a gusher. Never a good sign. Pours out dark brown and yields a huge, foamy head. Black body with tons of carbonation. Foamy and scary looking.
SMELL: Overly tart with piles of acidic sourness. Hints of raspberries are there somewhere, but this is all acidic aromas. No stout or barrel here.
TASTE: Same as the nose. Acidic sourness with faint hints of raspberries underneath if you really look hard. The tart, sour and acidic character dominates this. No stout base and definitely no barrel character either. Disappointing.
PALATE: Light, foamy and over carbonated. Finishes dry and puckering with lots of acidity lingering.
OVERALL: Too bad. The idea was solid and Sawdust City makes some great stuff, but this one didn’t work out. Perhaps it was nice right out of the gate, but at this point, it’s not enjoyable whatsoever. Avoid taking a chance on this one. Thanks again for the brews, guys!

On tap at Session 2016 in Toronto. Slightly sour, thick, strong raspberry flavour, vinous, complex. Very tasty beer, couldn't stop drinking it. Well done.

Roasty and smokey, light raspberry, a bit thin. Cheers, Jonny!

A nice treat to indulge in. Pours pitch black with a thin layer of head with little retention or lacing. Nose is heavy with oak and hints of vineous red wine, hints of chocolate and burnt toast. Surprisingly tart, raspberries are subtle but present, nice chocolate malty backbone and the wine barrel aging is definitely prominent. Lacks carbonation and is rather flat. Overall a great flavour profile, the raspberries meld well with the wine barrel aging, but the lack of carbonation was a bit of a drawback. Great effort nonetheless.
