The sour IPA thing didn’t click with me, at least with this beer...the hops are over done, and it makes the beer very medicinal / herbal, reminiscent of a fernet minus the menthol

Hazy pale straw yellow with good head and lacing. Aroma of citrusy Hop and funk from the souring. Taste wonderfully complex, grapefruit, lemon, straw, Brett, grassy, minty, celery... each time we tasted a new range of flavours. The mouth is very full without being overwhelming. A wonderful hybrid.

A:
Pours the color of honey with some suspended powdery crud that sticks to the edge of the glass and makes it look like you're drinking water from a mud puddle. It has a finger of fizzy off-white head that settles like pop to a scummy film then nothing. No retention, no lacing. (3.5)
S:
Mix of orange and brown sugar. Candied orange, lemon zest, bread, caramel, dirty washcloth. (3.5)
T:
Tart and slightly hoppy. Under-ripe stone fruit, lime, earthy hop background. (4)
M:
Fizzy at first but pretty smooth in the mouth, tingly tartness, thin, quick finish. (3.75)
O:
Decent beer. Interesting combo of styles/flavors.
This is admittedly the first sour I've had where you I could actually detect the hops (though mainly in the smell). The aroma is the weak point to me. It smelled super good at first but the dirty dishrag smell is something I've gotten in a few of IPAs from Quebec, too. I'm not sure if it is a hop storage thing or a sanitation thing, but it would be easily .75 points higher on smell for me if that aroma was gone.
Flavor-wise it is good. Tart, but not enough to pucker you up too bad. The hops are there but I would say that the aroma is hops enhanced with the lacto and the taste is the reverse. This is probably the most accessible sour I've had. That is, it tastes to me (as someone not crazy about sours) a little more like "beer" than some do. It's just tart enough some malt and hop presence, fairly drinkable. Glad I got to try this one! (3.75)
