Interesting concept, taking an older IPA recipe that has been changed an iterated and brewing the original.
Pours a burnished copper red, with more than enough thick white head. Delicious lacing, and thick unfiltered appearance while lacking turbidity.
Nose is classic WCIPA, bitter, earthy herbs and pine.
Taste is a combination of crude bitterness, earthy and piny hop characters, and generous malt sweetness. Comes in thicker, sweeter, and unquestionably more bitter than the current Lone Pine.
Mouthfeel is unmistakably oily, with a serious biting astringent bitterness that I miss in the current IPA climate. Altogether way better than I thought it would be, and bringing on some serious nostalgia.
