Can at Las Buenas Pulgas. Black color, small off white head with short retention, good lacing. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, roasted malts, a bit of molasses and licorice. Medium body, sticky texture, good carbonation. Taste follows the aroma. Good.

Got this one from hopsolutely this past summer. Love the base beer to happy to see what this one does with a little fiddling.
From a 473ml can into a snifter
OG: 22.5*P
IBU: 60
SRM: 70
FG: 6.0*P
APPERANCE: Pours transparent black and yields a three finger, medium looking, creamy, light tan head with excellent retention. Black body with higher levels of carbonation evident for the style. Head gets really bubbly looking, and eventually fades to a thicker cap and coats the sides of the glass with lacing. A splotchy wisp remains leaving lots of nice lacing the whole way down. Definitely more carbonated than some batches of the regular.
SMELL: Roasted barley, lots of cacao and wood aromas, with notes of vanilla and cream as well. Bold enough, with plenty of powdery cacao. Touches of citrus hops from the base beer.
TASTE: Roasted and somewhat burnt up front, with more cacao and caramel flavors at the swallow. Big, bold and bitter finish of roasted malts, some oak flavors with notes of vanilla cream, as well as lots of cacao powder and bitter chocolate lingers on the palate. Some bitter, citrus hop flavors mingle with the chocolate and bitter, burnt roasted character too. Certainly very flavorful.
PALATE: Medium-full body and medium levels of carbonation. Creamy on the palate, goes down smooth and finishes slightly dry for the style. Enough weight for sure. Plenty of bitterness lingers.
OVERALL: This is solid stuff. Very roasted and bitter, as is the base beer, but the cacao and oak additions do add another dimension of flavor here too. I’m not sure it’s an improvement on the base beer, but it certainly isn’t a thorn either. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you’re a fan of the brewery and, more specifically, the base beer. Thanks again, guys! Much appreciated.
