Milky, straw colour, like a pale custard, completely opaque & unfiltered. Forms a white, meringue-like head with good retention of a couple minutes.
Fresh & vivacious citrus & tropical fruit - like cracking open a "fruit cup" can when you were a kid. Grapefruit, pineapple, pear, passion fruit.
Flavour is mild & soft, a surprise after the bright nose. Hop flavours match the aroma, though subtle, and balanced by clean, milky grain - the influence of the oats shows, and it's a good thing. The soft & velvety feel, and creamy flavour, are an inspired foil for the hops. Bitterness is moderate, approachable, and lingers with a deft touch through the dry finish. Medium, fine carbonation.
Sign me up for IPAs with liberal use of oats, this is delicious and sessionable, a good introduction to IPAs for those that are turned off by pronounced bitterness. Yet subtle and unique enough to interest aficionados.
