Appearance: Served up a very dark brown body with a slim, loose, beige head.
Smell: Light chocolate, ground nut meal, a little sweetish caramel with some plum-like fruit character.
Taste: Fairly sweet with a low-grade, bitterish cocoa powder, cola nut and caramel. Plum dark fruit fruitiness. Lightly floral, minutely earthy hops. A little drop of soy. A bit more of that initial chocolate and caramel taste mingled with a dusting of ash on the finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-low carbonation.
Overall: Purchased expecting something reasonably close to resembling an Imperial Stout, Red Hare abused my trust and innocence in a manner most cruel.

16oz can from Total Wine (Kennesaw, GA). 4.99. “Best by 9/9/19”- which I assume means they gave 9-12 months from canning. Served in a teku. Enjoyed 3/14/19.
Pours a very dark chocolate brown with a tan, fluffy sand-hue head.
Smells of light roast coffee, weak hot cocoa and a hint of cooked brown sugar.
Tastes bittersweet and mildly roasty. Old, cheap Easter chocolate, coffee, caramel and some roasty malt. To its credit the alcohol is very subdued.
Medium body with very low carbonation. There’s is a sticky, lingering, resinous bitterness to the finish that just won’t relent.
Red Hare doesn’t do too many big beers so I was interested to try this one. Putin’s Paradise unfortunately does not quite deliver what I look for in a Russian imperial stout.
