A great bourbon flavor added to an already great hoppy imperial red ale.

The nose on this beer was outstanding, one of the best I've ever encountered. Bourbon, toasted caramel, toffee, vanilla. The hop profile dissipated but the deep flavor of an imperial red remained. The bourbon, vanilla and toasted sugar notes were present in the mouthful at first pour throughout consumption as it warmed. It did have a lingering sweetness, but I was ok with that. Not a fruit or sugar sweetness, but a nice bourbon sweetness. I really enjoyed this beer, more than I thought I would.
