Decent all around for an IPA. I have no clue what the "Melon IPA" means on the can as there is no real indication of any melon notes of any kind. If anything, the beer is a generic, strongly hopped and bitter IPA, good as such but no great shakes as far as being distinctive or outstanding. An apparent collaboration beer with Rockyard Brewing. I wish there was more info out there about the intent of the brewers, but since I can only go by what's in my glass, all I can say is it ain't bad.

Can from a sixer purchased for $9 USD.
"Melon IPA." 7.0% ABV.
APPEARANCE: Murky copper body. Off-white head ~1.5cm in height. Head retention is above average - ~3 minutes.
AROMA: Tropical fruit. Rind. Melon when I know to look for it. Pale malts. Floral hop aromatics. Candied fruit. White wine and white wine fruit (pear and spritzy peach).
Aromatic intensity is average.
TASTE: Pale malts and 2-row barley. Fruity hop flavours redolent of candied citrus peel, rind, melon, pear-redolent white wine, and white grape.
Balance could be better dialed in. Hop profile isn't unique, and the melon itself lacks authenticity and vividness. Average flavour duration and flavour intensity. Subpar depth of flavour.
I've had more intricate and pungent IPAs.
TEXTURE: Smooth, a bit dry, medium-bodied, overcarbonated, scratchy, and approachable. Unrefreshing. Not oily, gushed, hot, boozy, astringent, or harsh.
OVERALL: A middle-of-the-road beer in a direly oversaturated style. I wouldn't buy this over equally affordable yet superior widely distributed expressions of the style (e.g. Deschutes, Alaskan, Bear Republic, Lagunitas) but I'll enjoy polishing off the six pack and it's by no means a bad brew - just an average one. If there's one key flaw here, it's that the fruity flavours tend towards the artificial side.
