a new one i got to try when i visited their boulder location. it was awesome to see so many unfamiliar beers of theirs in here, i feel like the pace of innovation for these guys has been a crawl at best, so i was stoked on some new ones! this is really good, and listing it as a basic blonde ale doesnt really do it justice. its an oat based honey beer, and its pretty incredible really, up there with the gypsy squid brut pils as the best things i have had from these guys in ages. this is blonde and clear from the tap, but is surprising the rest of the way, with a bog floral honey nose, the right amount of sweet, but with an interesting botanical complexion to it, flower blossoms and maybe lavender and sage to it, nuances, its gorgeous. i like the oat base too, a little toasty and fuller, but still rather delicate, a perfect vehicle for the honey and an interesting balancing act to it, drying and earthy rather than bitter hoppy, its a unique balance and it makes a really drinkable and flavorful beer that is as interesting in terms of texture as it is in flavor. smooth and flavorful, light and crushable, a perfect summer beer. a great new one from these guys, and like the brut pils, this really should be canned up next summer! i loved this!
