At the first sip, Steep Coast Strata DIPA blasts off into a dank citrus stratosphere, through a far-out peach and stone fruit sky, then drifts via a passionfruit parachute back down to earth on sweet breezes. Strata, a sought-after varietal from Oregon State University's lauded hop breeding program, is characterized by pronounced green cannabis notes.

-bright yellow can pour with a deep haze and a 2 cm foam cap. The aroma is citrus and watermelon. The flavor is citrus and resin. The hop bitterness is low to moderate. There is significant alcohol heat which spoils this a bit.

16 oz can

Somewhat hazy, medium golden in color, white head. We'll rounded hop aroma, but leans citrus. Taste starts that way, but finishes with a strong hop burning bitterness. Harsh. Medium bodied

I love most of Oscar Blues beers but the finish and aftertaste just ruin this one.

Picked up a 16 oz Mason Jar draft from the Craft Beer Quick Stop 6-7-19 for $2.50. Consumed on 6-13-19.

Beer poured orange with an okay head with the initial pour.

Nose is very nice, dank fresh hops greet you along with a kiss of mango and papaya.

Taste is really well balanced. Pale and Caramel malts are steeped nicely with grassy floral and tropical hops. Finishes with a light touch of pulp. Bitterness is maybe 5/10.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth.

Overall an interesting flavor profile with the floral and the tropical, glad i got to try!

Poured from a can into a pint glass

Appearance – The beer is served a hazy orange amber color with a one finger head of white foam. The head has a decent level of retention, fading over time to leave some light foamy lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the brew is rather strong of a grapefruit hop smell mixed with some other aromas of big sweet tropical fruit smells. The tropical fruit are mainly of a tangerine nature with some other notes of mango and pineapple mixed within. With some light aromas of an herbal and floral hop as well as a hint of melon, one is left with a very inviting and enticing smell overall.

Taste – The taste begins with a somewhat bready and doughy taste that has a decent showing of tropical fruit sweetness upfront. While there is some tangerine, the predominate fruit taste is of mango, papaya, and pineapple, with these tropics being far greater then the citrus. Along that line, the grapefruit is moderate upfront with it growing slightly stronger as the taste moves forward to the end. While the nose depicts a lot of grapefruit hop, the main hop taste is that of an herbal and grassy nature with some floral hop tastes joining the tongue as the taste advances to the end. With some lighter yeasty, melon, and more dank hop tastes of some light earth coming at the very end, one is left with a tropical fruit sweet, but not overlay citrus sweet, and nicely blended hop taste to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is somewhat thick and chewy with a carbonation level that is on the lower side. For the mix of flavors the feel is rather nice, accentuating the slightly more dank hop profile, all while keeping it lively enough to support the lighter citrus and fruit that create a base taste.

Overall – A quite tasty and dangerously easy drinking brew. It’s sweet, but not over the top as the dank hop seem to balance everything out rather nicely. Overall a very nice brew!

Poured from a 16oz can into a Speiglau IPA glass.

Look is a light hazy orange with a thin bubbly head.

Aroma is lots of candy orange.

Taste is a nice blend of the orange and sweet candy malt.

From a four pack of 16 oz cans at $12.99.
Poured into a snifter. Canned 3/28/19 enjoying 5/6/2019.

Pours a slightly hazy golden orange, minimal white head that dissipates quickly, not leaving much lacing on the glass.

The aroma is a wonderful bouquet of passion fruit, stone fruit, peach, papaya maybe even some cannabis.

Upfront a nice blanket of tropical fruit, peach, sweet malt on the palate.

Nice body; medium carbonation—definitely what I’d consider “smooth”, with enough hop bitterness on the finish. Noticeably more heavy than CanOBliss and touch sweeter.

It’s a nice addition to their lineup. Would I buy another pack at the price point? Maybe not— I’d lean for more ‘Bliss. I’d grab a pint if I saw it on tap.
