Pinkish yellow straw filtered a huge 10 fingers of head.

Smells slightly sour herbal background.

Taste follows the nose but is extremely bone dry sour!

Medium body, Tart with lots of carbonation.

I got this in Asheville North Carolina and I’m having it in Redding California July 18, 2020.

look: two finger bubbly white head which dissipates quite quickly to just a scattering of bubbles, beer is a clear amber colour with good levels of carbonation within the beer.

smell: biscuity grainy malt there, rose essence, has a strong cider quality to it, and a vinous quality to it, white grape, champagne, green apple, some orange , i think it smells rather nice.

taste: okily dokily, this is a weird one, first thing is a crushing wave of sweetness, the malt flavour only has a tiny little bit of time to settle in before an unpleasant sourness takes over, lemon flavours, the finish is bitter but not in a particularly pleasant way, somewhat like the skin of an orange, not getting any of that pear flavour, and not much of the rose either, it’s really just jarring sourness and bitterness, the flavour isn’t terrible but it really isnt good either, oh well.

feel: light to medium bodied, light carbonation, puckering sourness and unpleasant lingering bitterness on the back of the tongue, a touch of warming, not the nicest combination of sensations one can get from beer anyway.

overall: i was really starting to think i could like this beer more than everyone else but no it really does just hit the mark, first beer from oskar blues, not exactly the best first impression but i hear good things so i’ll try them again, give them another chance.

12 FL. OZ. can
Served in a snifter

This beer pours a brilliant amber hue. It is topped with an inch of tan head that leaves nice lacing.

The aroma has hibiscus and a tart aroma. I'm assuming the tart is from the prickly pear. There are not a lot of cacti in Ohio.

The taste has hibiscus up front with a fruity middle, and a tart finish.

Light bodied with an effervescent mouthfeel

This is a refreshing beer. It would be darn good and a hot summer day.

Appearance—Like light honey. Hazy. White head. Some little spotty lacing.

Aroma—Hoppy citrus. Some sweetness. Some sourness. Not really any malt or anything distinct. Kinda dank and musty.

Taste—Barely any tartness. Not much hibiscus. Prickly pear for sure. A little grain. Some mild sweetness. A fruity character. Some citrusy hops but not bitter at all. It’s a surprisingly dull beer. Not really what I was expecting from a flavored “rosé ale”, but still a tasty beverage and certainly a little above average. It could have been sweeter and more tart.

Mouthfeel & Finish—Medium-thick mouthfeel. Great carbonation. Refreshing and fairly dry finish. Not as light and crisp as what I thought it should be.

Overall—not really what I was expecting, but nothing objectively bad by any means.

This delivers on what it promises: crisp, tart, and light without being thin or overly perfumey. This tastes like an ale and a bottle of American rose sparkling wine had a baby. I liked it as part of a mix and match 6-pack. Would I seek it out? Meh. But if you like wine and beer equally, it may be your next favorite thing.

This is its own style. Not trying to be fat with complexity. It’s light and refreshing, I enjoyed it.

Had on tap at OO. Enjoy tart beers and enjoy hibiscus. But this just didn’t work. Pale and light. Drinkable but very unmemorable. Realize I like big flavored beers, but this wasn’t subtle or intriguing... it was just boring. 1st OB’s beer I’ve ever felt this way.

Nope. There's floral and citrus notes to the aroma, some biscuit and more floral flavors - actual floral, like chewing flower petals - and none of it comes together. The feel in the tongue is weirdly aggressive, like sandpaper. I've seen a few other Rosé ales out there and if they're like this one, I'm staying clear
