Clear mahogany appearance with a large tan head and plenty of lacing. Chocolate malt aroma start things off trailed by a little nuttiness. Caramel and chocolate maintain their presence on the palate as toasted malts join in. Noble hops add balance but stay in the background. Bittersweet aftertaste leaves an impression.

CAN
Rich amber with steady, creamy taupe head; bread crust nose with a hint of spiced applesauce; toast, some tart apple again, hints of raisin + cocoa, slight spice to end; clean, light + fizzy. Body gets creamier as it warms.

A looker - that head is rock solid - with lots of melanoidins on the nose. Flavor has the same, but then skips any sweetness or toffee in favor of darker notes - I suspect there’s a speck more chocolate malt + less Munich than some more traditional recipes. But on style + easy drinking to boot.

If you like Wibby's Moondoor Dunkel, Grimm Brothers Fearless Youth, or the FaceDown Brown Ale by Telluride, you'll more than likely enjoy this one. It has a similar flavor profile, given the style, but shines through in its own way. At least worth a try, especially if you're a fan of dark beers with chocolate notes.

L:. Pours a bright copper orange color with a small white head and some lacing around the glass.
S:. Roasted malt, toasted bread and caramel, a low hop presence.
T:. Rye bread, a slightly soggy bread, some caramel, a light bitterness.
F:. Medium body, but clean fermentation.
O:. Solid beer but nothing special.

12oz can, sample from the brewery.
Bright copper hued brew with an amazing head and lacing on top. A very clean toasty lager, lots of bready overtones with a toasted biscuit flavor in the finish. Lands pretty dry with some maltiness and just enough body for the style. Smooth, crisp, and highly drinkable. I for one would love to see more lagers come from Oskar Blues.
