16 oz. Cup (From On-Tap/Beer To Go)
From: The Ale House
Poured into a Trillium glass a very nice dark brown/black color, with some very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy two-finger tan head, which also leaves a very nice medium-size island, and some very nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is very nice, malty, hoppy, with a very nice touch of chocolate/toffee, vanilla, licorice, cognac, port & petit syrah notes, oaky, pretty nice roastyness. The taste is very nice, malty, hoppy, with a very nice touch of chocolate/toffee, vanilla, licorice, cognac, port & petit syrah, pretty nice oaky note, and a nice touch of roastyness. Full Body, ABV is hidden pretty nice, with a pretty nice dry/bitter finish, a very nice big sipper. Overall, this is a very tasty brew. Glad to see it around here.

Appearance: Arrives pitch black with a this beige head that fades to a ringlet and archipelago; squiggles and dots
Smell: Roasted malt and dark chocolate enveloped by Cognac with hints of the Port and Petit Syrah barrels
Taste: Roast forward with a bitter chocolate tone emerging; the Cognac builds, through the middle, with the Port and Petit Syrah barely detectable; quite charred, in the finish, though the wine barrels emerge at the very end as the beer warms
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with moderate moderate; warmth in the gullet
Overall: This is interesting but might have worked with less bitter char tones battling the barrels; also, Cognac being such a powerful flavor, it overwhelmed the wine barrels
