Mama's Little Yella Pils dry-hopped with Opal hops. On-tap at the Brick Store.
Pours a slightly hazy yellow color with a one-finger white head. The head recedes into a wispy layer on top leaving decent lacing.
Smells of crisp citrus hops with good amounts of floral aromas all backed by pilsner malts.
Tastes similar to how it smells. Much hoppier than the normal version but still with a nice pilsner malt base. Hop flavors are almost all light citrus. Ending is mildly bitter.
Mouthfeel is good. It has a nice thickness with moderate carbonation.
Drinkability is very good. I didn't have a problem finishing the glass and could easily have another.
Overall I wasn't the biggest fan of the normal version and think the hops definitely helped this one out. I would still prefer a very good traditional Czech Pils but this isn't a bad substitute. Worth a shot if you see it around.
