Seeing new heights in porter making, Oskar Blues teams up with Garrison Brother Distillers for a whisky barrel aged dark ale that'll have the tastebuds raising the white flag surrendering to this taste.

7th Flag hits the glass with a very dark brown appearance sharing tawny margins about the rim. A creamy swirl of foam decorates the surface while a spicy scent of whisky floats above a toasty, coffee-like, nutty and chocolaty scent. Sweet upon its first taste, the malt impressions of caramel, toffee, dark chocolate, candied coconut and brown sugar start to coat the early palate.

Much of the same extends onto the middle palate as the ale slowly fades into a spicier and somewhat drier late palate. Meanwhile, the more nuanced flavors of grilled dark fruit, peppercorn, vinous spice and cola nut round the taste with complexity and charm. Its heated flavors late allow for a whisky vapor to shine with toasted coconut, dry oak, vanilla and bourbon.

Full bodied, warm and sultry, the beer finishes hot with a drying mouthfeel despite its full flavor and rounded textures. Its whisky warmth extends into a spicy aftertaste long after the sweetness is done.

12oz can. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, light brown head of bubbly foam. It left sticky rings of lace on the glass. It smelled of bourbon, rich molasses, coffee and chocolate. Strong bourbon notes with oak, vanilla, chocolate and sweet toffee.
